Nigerian Runs for Atlanta School Board Commission

The candidacy of Colet Odenigbo for the Atlanta’s Dekalb county school board was conveyed to me via email. After reading the campaign material and the fund-raising drive, it could easily have pushed the issue aside and move on with my day. After all I don’t know him. However, something hits home about Mr Odenigbo’s mission and mentality. While I don’t live in Atlanta’s Dekalb county, or Atlanta for that matter, I do understand what drives him and appreciate his ambitions.
It isn’t that Nigerians don’t run for political offices in America, the fact is there isn’t enough of us on the ballot!
So when folks like Colet steps up, there’s every need to encourage and prop them up. Afterall, this is the kind of enthusiasm and zeal that is missing on the political terrain back home (Migeria). As we all very well know, when energetic folks like Colet steps up to the plate effect changes in Nigeria, they are easily taken care off: either by lethal force, or dribbled out of contention by unfavorable party politics or touts like Adedibu of Ibadan. So if “they” won’t let us in Nigeria, lets do it in America!
So I encourage you to visit the Elect Colet website, and appreciate change-drivers like Odenigbo by dropping your widow’s mite.

They need good people on the DeKalb County School Board. Mr. Odenigbo sounds like the man for the job.

I wish him well. Nigerians need more representation on the American political terrain, especially in high-density Nigerian enclaves like Atlanta, Maryland and Houston.

Thanks for the commendation and cross-posting on your site Don. I didn’t know you were once an Atlanta resident.
