I hope the African mainstream media turns a new leaf this coming year…the world is fast leaving them behind, and their readers too!

African mainstream media turn a new leaf? WE are the African mainstream media. Most of the ‘mainstream’ media companies here in South AFrica aren’t even owned by Africans apart from a BEE deal or 2.0.

I agree with Rafiq. African media is so far behind. Bloggers are the new wave. But Kuddos to Time for recognizing that fact. It has been a long time coming.

Ain’t it great! Not only did Time Magazine honor bloggers (authors and readers) around the world but so did Businessweek earlier this year. The World Economic Forum just awarded Technorati a 2007 Technology Pioneer award for their work to support the blogosphere.
Gosh, what are we gonna do for 2007?? Will it (the blogosphere) all collapse or do you thing we are on a roll here? Today we take New York, tomorrow the World!!

BRE: While I do not know what tomorrow holds for the blogosphere, it sure feels good that the big boys - who have always dominated this sector - are not only paying attention, but acknowledging the impact of new media. My guess is that 2007 will present a tremendous opportunity for participatory media, particularly for content aggregation and social network platforms. Yeah, it sure feels good!
