This is a call to all Nigerian bloggers worldwide to become a part of An anthology of the greatest works of Nigerian Bloggers- A book called Naija bloggers Vol 1.
Nigerian Bloggers around the globe are requested to send in their stories or recommend great posts for the publication of a physical anthology, the first of its kind by any group of bloggers on any continent.

Great idea - But what are these categories supposed to represent: “anecdotes, short stories, poetry, prose, drama and essays but there is room for as many sub-categories as are sent in as the book will also serve as a platform where artistes can showcase architectural/interior/exterior designs, photography, paintings as well as fashion and textile designs”
Just a shame that there are not categories for politics, environment, literature, the arts, social justice, human rights, gender, feminism - need i go on?
I cant say essays, drama and short stories are familiar to me in the blogosphere - this is blogging and blogs we are talking about? Maybe I am missing something - when does a post become an essay, a short story or a piece of drama?

Categories for literature, the arts?
“Human rights” doesn’t fall under “Social justice”?
There’s no way humanly possible we can state all the topics people write on. There are as many topics as people have ideas. The purpose of the suggestions made was to show there was no limit to what could be sent in. You may consider the works sought as “including but not limited to” the categories stated.
There are enough people involved with the Arts and book publishing in this project to tell the difference between categories and make sub-categories where necessary. There are no hard and fast rules imposed on any writer.
I’ll nit-pick for clarity.
When does a post become an Essay?
I assure you that we’ll know an essay when we see one. A lot of issues like politics, environment, gender, feminism like stated by sokari are usually essayed (sic)
When does it become a drama?- When it is written in the form of a play, a drama sketch or a skit. laspapi’s a playwright and assures bloggers he can tell a drama when he sees one following the basic rules of theatre.
When does it become a short story?- A lot of people write novellas. Basically, this category is for prose writers.

Essays, drama and prose writing are easier ways of rationalising and illustrations for many people and i particularly will be interested in contibuting to this blog from this angle. i will follow this with interest.

It just seems an odd way to me to categorise blog posts - looking at all the blog awards categories over the past x years (yes i know this is not a blog award but a collection of posts). I just never think of blog posts in terms of essays, drama or stories but then thats me!
But hey nothing is fixed so a good idea to try something different for a change. Good luck and great thought for coming up with the idea.

There should be no problems roaming my blog or leaving comments, ‘taylor.
Do you have the same problem with all blogs on blogspot? I haven’t forgotten Ahmed Yerima’s e-mail.

[…] Although blogging is global, it’s still very nascent in Nigeria (and Africa in general), therefore it is pertinent, if not mandatory, that bloggers congeal and collaborate if for no other reason than fostering relationships that promote citizen media. Citizen media is the future of information and news management in Nigera/Africa (see Tayo Odukoya’s post on Nigeria’s FRSC below). The emergence of blog aggregators is based on this premise; it also drive ideas such as the proposed Jeremy’s Naija Blogger Meet-up (Lagos) and the reverse publication project being championed by Laspapi.
