One of my favorite musicians is dead.
Stephen Osita Osadebe died in the United States aged 71.
[tag]Osita Osadebe[/tag] was one of the pioneers of [tag]highlife music[/tag] in Nigeria. Although he sang primarily in Ibo - his rhythmic narratives and songs, and clever use of guitars and horns have always held me spellbound, and will continue to. The fact that I don’t understand Ibo makes his music even more appealing to my ears.
Enjoy Osita on You Tube Just flow with the audio, the video quality aren’t great.
Ah! May his soul rest in peace…This is one reason I am passionate about mentorship, who do we have in this generation to continue and fill these shoes?

PA Osadebe, may the good Lord grant you eternal rest. You were a lovely genuine kindhearted fella and your highlife music was one of my mum’s favorites. Adieu sir.

Oh! May his soul rest in peace, my greatest memories of my father was dancing and singing high life music with him. He used to listen to Osadebe on sunday mornings. Everytime I hear his music, it takes me to my childhood. Very sad indeed, his music lives on in us, we must pass it on to future generations!

It came to me as shock when I was browsing through the internet and opened a page telling that the great Legend and Highlife Guru is gone. I believe you must be sleeping in the peaceful abode. The style of you music composure, the rhythm of the instruments and your message in the sounds of your music are great. The melody keeps reechoing in my memory. I have become a habitual responder whenever the sounds of your music are being played. You have imbibed the tunes and culture of the true Igbo spirit and Music in us. Your Musical Albums will ever remain legacies to us and our generations. It’s truly sad that Heroes never live forever. If highlife music is allowed in Heaven, you will still remain my best musician when we must have all crossed over. Rest in perfect peace the King of Highlife Tunes.Adieu Osa Nwa Mama! Adieu Osa Nkwa!! Adieu Osili Nwa Mama!!! Adieu Chief Stephen Ositadimma Osadebe!!!
