Yar ‘Adua Declares Personal Assets

June 29th, 2007  |  Published in Governance, Nigeria  |  9 Comments

Yar ‘Adua is after my heart…being the first elected President to publicly declare personal assets in Nigeria. The man is worth some $5 million dollars, now he has my attention and respect. Let’s see how many member of his cabinet will follow suit.

I believe President Yar Adua will make a good leader. He has just proved that by setting this good example. He needs our prayers and supports.

Yar ‘Adua does indeed seem like a good and honest man, but I worry that he will not be strong enough to control the rest of the party politicians who have helped to bring him to power. The corruption and inefficiency of the federal government will not be easily reformed.

From the 48 laws of Power.

Law 12 Says…Use seletive honesty and generosity to disarm your victims.

    It goes no….
One sincere and honest move will cover over dozens of dishonest ones.Open-hearted gestures of honesty and genrosity brings down the guard of even the most suspicious people….

I am still looking…. No comment

I was not familiar with the “48 Laws of Power,” but I have now looked into this fascinating study which you have mentioned. I think that I was thinking of a different sort of “power law,” by which one would use the number of power-hungry family members and supporters as a multiplier to predict the corruption that may occur during a politician’s term in office.

As long as Yar’Adua remains a product of PDP and as long as the king-makers, Obasanjo and his cronies are still alive…I see another ‘Shagari era’ in Nigeria.

People are jubilating that Yar’Adua has declared his’questionable’ asset…

Now, what happens if at the end of his tenure, he is ten times richer than when he got in…what will Nigerians do?

He is surely starting with the right foot forward. But this one that Baba Iyabo has assumed the driver’s position in PDP, how sure are we that Umaru will not be driven towards Baba’s ideologies?

President Umaru Yar’Adua declares asset publicly…

I saw a leading news headline on Yahoo News this morning. (Yahoo! is fund of deleting news items after sometime so I am unable to link to them.) I was quite impressed:
President Umaru Yar’Adua revealed personal wealth of $5 million on Thursday, s…

Well, its still too much money for an ordinary chemistry teacher. Granted he said, he inherited the money from his late brothers assets.

I have a firm belief that everything a snake gives birth to must be LONG!

    Lets waut and see!
