Rivers State Governor Removed

The election tribunals and courts continue to speak. It started with Kebbi, then Kogi, state where elections have been voided and will rerun. Now it’s Rivers state:

The Supreme Court in Abuja yesterday removed Sir Celestine Omehia as governor of Rivers State.The court also ordered the immediate swearing in of Rotimi Amaechi as the new governor.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Amaechi was immediately sworn in as governor at the court premises. Earlier in day, police tightened security at the court as it prepared to deliver its ruling determine the authentic governorship candidate for Rivers in the April 14 election. Amaechi, former Speaker of the Rivers House of Assembly had filed his before the court contending that he was the authentic candidate for the April 14 governorship election won by the PDP in the state, but was wrongfully substituted. He asked the apex court to remove Omehia and declare him the winner of the election.

  1. There is justice in this world after all. Ondo State will also triumph. I feel good that Nigeria is pursuing the path of justice. It shall be well.

  2. I wouldn’t jump for joy regarding the situation in Rivers state, all that has happened is that one crook has been replaced with another one.
    Our judiciary is doing an excellent job cleaning up INEC and Obj’s mess.
