Nigerians will wait to see if he has the guts to come back home to face the charges against him from his extended vacation, he said ‘he’s on vacation’, right?

I disagree.
Lucky Igbendion is wanted on charges of corruption. True.
But we cannot categorically say that he built the house ‘with people’s money’. While that my be the case, we are not certain it is.
Remember that even before he became governor, he was quite rich. He comes from a very rich family.
Innocent until proven guilty.
January 19, 2008 at 4:56 am
Oh, I didn’t know he came for a rich family, and I didn’t know he is rich.
Did he build this house while he was the governor or before?
If indeed his hands are clean, he should have been back from vacation to clear his name, right?
You see there are some people whose cases are “guilty until proven innocent”, such people are Ibori, Odili and Igbinedion, and you should know why.
January 19, 2008 at 9:52 am
As I understand it, as we speak, Lucky Igbinedion has handed himself over to Interpol, or could even be back inside Nigeria now. Now the guilty will have to work hard to be proven innocent. Come on now, let’s be frank, so LI has not embezzled eh? He has not built his mansion with poor man’s money but his family riches? So why the symbol of all those dead trees and shrubs sorrounding his house in most of the pictures shown? God has a way of giving revelations. So innocent till proven guilty? We just have to wait and see what the truth will turn out to be.

UPDATE ON IGBENIDION curtesy of http://www.gamji.com
At last…Igbinedion caught by EFCC’s net
The EFCC yesterday confirmed that it had former Edo Governor Lucky Igbinedion in its custody.
EFCC spokesman Osita Nwajah told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that Igbinedion had turned himself in at the commission’s Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, office in Lagos.
Nwajah said the former governor was under going interrogation and would be transferred to Abuja to face a 142-count charge brought against him.
The EFCC had instituted the charge against Igbinedion, who ruled Edo between 1999 and 2007.
Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako of the Federal High Court had on January 8 issued a warrant for the arrest of the former governor.
Igbinedion is charged along with three companies — Kiva Corporation Ltd., Gava Corporation Limited and Ekpen and Sons Company for abuse of office and money laundering.

Published: Wednesday, 23 Jan 2008
THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission will on Wednesday (today) arraign the former Edo State Governor, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, before Justice Olayinka Faji of the Federal High Court (FHC), Enugu.
A source at the EFCC also told our correspondent that Igbinedion would be prosecuted on a 156-count charge on alleged money laundering and abuse of office.
The ex-governor surrendered himself to the anti-graft agency on Monday. He was quizzed and then detained by operatives of the commission.
Our correspondent gathered that the EFCC was already making plans to move him to Enugu as at Tuesday evening…

MAY ALL THE LOOTERS OF THE NATIONS WEALTH, TO THE DETRIMENT OF THE POOR, NOT CONSIDERING THE EFFECTS ON THE ORDINARY MAN, BE SHAMED, EXPOSED, JUDGED, IMPRISONED AND DAMNED BY GOD NOW AND FOREVER. ANYTIME I WATCH OR READ ABOUT PEOPLE DYING ON ROADS, IN HOSPITALS, ETC ETC, JUST MAKES ME START HATING. MAY THEY ALL BE PUNISHED. ABOVE ALL I PRAY AGAIN AS ALWAYS THAT NIGERIA WILL BE RID OF CORRUPTION AND WE CAN HAVE A GOOD START FOR POSTERITY (AND OUR SAKES).
January 26, 2008 at 9:58 am
omotaylor i hear th LOVE you have for our beloved NATION NIGERIA .like in my rely to the eson that called himselves someboby, incentives are giving all over the world for people sering in govt eg housing allowance and money for maintainace.like a famouse man once said ,ask what you can do for your country not what your counrty can do for you. we ask a nation should start acting civicly.we have established that we have some shitheads as leaders, but there are little things we can do for ourselves like carea litle more, respect the little laws we have. care for our sick i wrk in the health industry in the us you ther not talk to a patient any how.but in naija that is not the case. is the govt to be blame too. i was at LUTH to see my uncle that was sick no bed pan the place dirty. i have clean him up . nurse ont care is it the govt fault . we just care when you respect yourselve people will respect you. WE NEED TO START CARING ABOUT NGERIA.ABOUT OU PEOPLE. THERE SHOLULD BE ACCOUNTABILITY IF WE HAVE TO SURVIVE.a nurse will be asking a woman in labour na e make you pregnant ,why i that her bussiness you are to help her thru her labour pain.they say you american nurse make money but whatthey would not tell you is that we NURSE were taught the same principle of NURSING WHIH IS CARE. am sing nursibg as an examplebecauce that my field. lack of caring is what is bringing our NATION to a stand still. GOD HELP US HELP OURSELVES.BLESS GOD NIGERIN

omotaylor my brother am sorry , its just that i dont understand why we as a people should be living like this ,when GOD has giving us so many mineral resources.. i ry each day that am going to work not because of not liking my job as intensive care nurse ,but because could be in nigeria and doing the same thing thking care of my people in the emergency room.but no ,there is no eqpment to work. my uncle died in LUTH i went to visit him his bed was wet with urine no one to change his bed. i asked for water there was none, i then sen my younger brother to get me water at obele that infront of LUTH.i was minding my business ging my uncle a bed bath one stupid nurse now came and said madam it seems that you are an american trained nurse now you know by that statement am pissed off and i said to this fool that its seems that she has forgotting the reason why she became a nurse is to care and nuture her patient.want t come home there are no glove ,no simple alchol pad what then do we work with if i come home this monkeys still are looting all this resourses and coming abroad for there health care GOD is watching my uncle went into LUTH with diabetic crises his blood sugar is not monitored unless he pays 200.00 naira my point is who then do you treat this man if you dont monitor his blood sugar.i then gave the money that has notting to do with the hospital bill. we have to start caring book smart is not common sense, some of or leader dont have commom sense
January 27, 2008 at 8:58 pm
Ngozi, it will be well, there is nothing that has a beginning that will not have an end, even human suffering in Jesus name. Dont let it affect your normal life but let it propel you to achieving better. You know my prayer for you? and me? I want God to bless us to have enough to start our businesses to contribute our widows mite to a better Nigeria. I pray God gives you enough to start a maternity or private hospital that will be run with integrity, compassion and love. We pray on for our leaders to change their hearts and let them look after the common man in Nigeria. When one Godly governor or President takes charge and does the right thing many others will copy and this shall be a good thing. The leaders we have are too engrossed in their ego and comfort to make a difference. By and by I hear Lagos state will change. We wait and see. God bless Nigeria.

It is God almighty who can fight on behalve of masses in this our country Nigeria, because it is poor people that can be judge according to law, but if it is true that ex Gov Lucky embesle Nigeria money and he is found guilty believe me nothing, no any action will be taking against him because thay are strong people, among all the people that were arrested for money lundering, loot and so on, what was the final judgement against them?, they are set free, but if it is poor man forever he/ she would be in jail.

February 13, 2009 at 7:24 pm
What has happened to Nigeria? A million dollar question, oh I should be saying a trillion dollar question for in our Nigeria, million dont mean nought anymore.
Nigeria has been left unmanaged, now totally unmanageable and tending towards final chaos. In the meantime, our sick stegomaya mosquito bitten president with sleeping sickness does not even care. Oh God what happened to Nigeria? Where did we go wrong. From Udoji to Ole ji. God save our country.
February 14, 2009 at 2:04 pm
it suprises me of the first commentator.. yes lucky came from a rich family .. but the question is .. does the rich always stay rich ?.. because he came from a rich family does not mean the ernomous amount of money spent on that property does not come from the family .. kit suprises me how our nation celebrates crooks ,, and give them title .. when they should rather be stigmatised. he mismanaged edo state funds . and so he sould be tried..to serve an example for posterity.

With reference to the 3rd comment above; I really wonder what the true outcome of this matter was? A slap on the wrist and saying do it no more, or do we say No outcome in reality? Welcome to the world of FARIDA WAZIRI the toothless, even gumless barking *****

there is a change in the air coming into this country Nigeria. It is not the change proclaimed from church pulpits or mosque minarets. It is the change that is echoed by young Nigerians all over the world who are tired of being denied the right to be positive, the right to have a hope in their nations future, who have been denied their birthright for too long by a class of rulers who watch our nation go to ruin in every section and dont care. It is the voice of the men and women and children, young and cold, educated, illiterate, office worker, traders, taxi men, hawkers, teachers, muslim, christian, and traditionalist. We all say “Enough!” And soon the oppressors will hear our cry!

Firstly, Lucky should be shot through his mouth with a stainless gun because his doesnt deserve to be on this earth anymore, his mates a dead already and secondly EFCC’ Waziri or whatever she is called should be dismissed. Until these are done, the good people of Edo State will never be contempt.
