Nigerian Election Annulment #6: Enugu State

On January 18, 2008 / By Imnakoya / In Democracy, elections, Governance, Nigeria

Sixth Nigerian state election overturned for fraud” goes the headline on Reuters.

Yes! This time it’s Enugu state:

A Nigerian court annulled the election of a state governor on Friday in the sixth such ruling since flawed and violent polls last April.

The tribunal in the southeastern state of Enugu canceled the election of Governor Sullivan Chime and his deputy on the grounds of gross electoral malpractice and non-compliance with the Electoral Act, Justice Samuel Otta said.

Isn’t it odd that ‘Professor’ Iwu the electoral commission boss- the agency that supervised (or orchestrated) those annulled elections is still employed?

Last annulment was Adamawa.
