Hillary Clinton Ad featuring Jack Nicholson…

On March 1, 2008 / By Imnakoya / In Blogosphere

The Hillary Clinton Campaign released a video starring Jack Nicholson today. The spot consists of a statement from Nicholson along with him in character as The Joker, Col. Jessup (A Few Good Men), and Jake Gittes (Chinatown), according to huffingtonpost.com.

Great creative concept, however; the troops Hillary Clinton is so eager to bring back home are those she and other lawmakers sent on a deadly mission that time has shown to be unjust and unnecessary. How about that? Obama saw the flaw in the decision and voted against the war. The facts remain ‘un-spinnable’!

  1. Perhaps Hillary also saw the flaw in the decision to go to war in Iraq but thought that we could not handle the truth?

This is a big election for those of us interested in the United States’ relations with African countries, isn’t it?

  2. Actually Obama didn’t vote against the war, he was opposed to it. And reminding people at every turn that U were against the war (when in fact U were in no position to vote for or against it) is not a good look either.

  3. This is the first time that I have heard anyone complain about Obama’s look in this campaign.

  4. To Olamide: The fact is Obama did not “vote” for the war; we shouldn’t be confused by semantics or issue of being able to ‘vote for or against’.

  5. Don: Yes this is election is very important to Africa. Unfortunately, I can’t say I’m clear on what Clinton or Obama stance are. One can safely assume McCain is more or less going to follow Bush’s trail.

  6. In spite of his African heritage and visits to Kenya, Barack Obama has not shown any particular interest in African affairs. Bill Clinton earned the good will of African people in spite of an initial reticence to commit our forces to stopping the genocide in Rwanda.

I am confident that either Clinton or Obama would commit the United States toward long-term independence and economic growth of African countries. The Bush administration has favorably impressed a number of African leaders and societies, but there is not much depth of commitment at this point. They have found Africa a surprisingly soft market and taken advantage of that.

  7. I finally watched the YouTube clip. That is really going to bring out the youth vote, isn’t it?
