Mighty Sparrow or Birdie or Chief Omo Wale Of Ikoyi (Nigeria) (born Slinger Francisco, July 9, 1935, in Grandroy Bay, Grenada, West Indies) is a calypso singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Known as the “Calypso King of the World,” he is one of the most well-known and successful calypsonians.

    I had no idea Sparrow was originally from Grenada, just thought he was Trini.

    Anyway, funny enough, we were just listening to this in the car. I really shouldn’t let my kids listen to Sparrow, the man is scandalous! lol! But, I love him. Have you heard his track ‘Dudu Yemi’? He is a great artist!
