Words of Wisdom 2: Only Leaders can Initiate a new order of things

Take a look at Nicollo Machiavelli’s assertion, and tell me I’m wrong:

It must be considered that there is nothing more difficult to carry out nor more doubtful of success nor more dangerous to handle than to initiate a new order of things; for the reformer has enemies in all those who profit by the old order, and only lukewarm defenders in all those who would profit by the new order; this lukewarmness arising partly from the incredulity of mankind who does not truly believe in anything new until they actually have experience of it.

Do you wonder why things don’t work in Nigeria…

  1. Hmmmm, now I know why we are where we are!

  2. Well, like I always say, you can’t expect those who benefit from the status quo to then change the status quo. Thus, those that do not benefit, typically the majority, simply need to wisen up, and work together to make things better for as many as possible.

Whether a leader, in the conventional sense can achieve such change, is questionable, but not improbable. Nevertheless, such a leader cannot do it without help. As for Nigerians, we all have to work together to make the nation better and it starts with personal changes.

Thanks so much for sharing this.

  3. Sollomonsydelle, I couldnt have put my reaction to this post better. I echo every word you said :)
