I thought Nigeria’s power problems are terrestrial in nature, it appears the problem has taken an extra-terrestrial dimension as well. On Tuesday, controllers shut down the Chinese-built $340m NigComSat-1 satellite because it was having problems with its power supply. The BBC has the story.
ha ha ha. Was this satelite really sent into orbit. pardon my disbelieve. nigeria is yet to remedy simple life sustaining matters here on planet earth; no infrastructures, no good roads, no electricity, and yet we have billions to go do what in the orbit. talk of misplaced priorities! lol!!!

Extra-terrestrial? LOL
Lack of monitoring, maintenance et al are a bane to the nation’s progress.
Our attitude to anything that belongs to us, even if it’s at Andromedia Spiral will cause it to malfunction.
Didn’t they know that there was a fault with the power from the solar panel? Why wait for the backup battery to run flat before proffering solution?

loL!
I am leaving this story alone. But, i can’t stop laughing. Any probes, National Assembly?

Satelite cannot be located, it could be spinning downward back to planet earth. Chinese experts who worked on this project dont have a track record of success. Never mind, what is billions of naira down the drain and favoured pockets, while the people suffer? Arent we talking about NIGERIA?

Lol. I read about the story last week. Now I see why people spend all that time in churches/mosques, praying for Nigeria.

Hmnnn…Quite a pathetic story..I hope the saga continues! possibly they might re-launch another next year.

@Jason, is it really a good idea to relaunch another satellite so soon? The reasons for the failure of NigComSat1 should be thoroughly investigated. The Chinese company that built this Satellite have a lot of explanations to do. Billions have vaporised with this one, do we want a repeat performance on a grander stage?

building a satelite is one thing, shoooting it to the orbit is another, maintenance is the another and monitoring is one of the aspect, this issue has now open our ass to the world to show how unplanned, and a set of corrupt people we are. how are we sure the said amount was actually spent on this satelite project, how are we sure that the money was only spent on pages of paper and the real money ended up in our powers to be pocket?. well picking wel no get papa and mama dey accept any food wel dey don chop remain.
Nigerians i great una welwel. this is the picture of a true nigerian

Sadly so for I keep on asking and thinking that maybe there was never a NigComSat1 but in the figment of the concerned people’s imagination. Why I think so is that before we could even take stock, the same failures are calling for double money to launch Sat 2 and 3 straightaway? There is something not quite right somewhere. Cant place it, bit something fishy is going on. Nigeria I join in saluting you Weluwellu.

Though i got this site late, but when i got to know about this story i laugh too because i wonder, what happened to the expect that was trained to monitor, or those that built the sat dont know before they lunch. this are some of the thing that really show red light that this sat-2 thing is a big slap in the face of millions of nigerian, please brethren dont be suprise that the life spane of that sat may not reach 15 years that they say
God will help us!!!
