What’s with Nigerian media? Does no one have a reporter who can go to Saudi Arabia? Can no hire a stringer there? And do none of the politicians in Nigeria know how to find an employee at the Saudi hospital willing to share information for a few naira?

Great question! Many of the politicians are most in favor of the status quo. And the media, are simply too timid to be relevant!

Somehow BBC got through to the president on his hospital bed. Why the president would rather talk to BBC and not his cabinet members, or even the national media agencies (TV and Radio) is a puzzle.
One thing has been made clear by this matter, Nigeria has a long way to go to attain the status of a fully democratic nation where accountability and purpose-driven leadership are standard requirement.
At the moment, Nigeria is a banana republic where anything goes. It is absurd that a president will vacate his seat this long without making adequate provisions for his absence. To me this is enough reason to impeach the president, and slap treason charges on all those that aided this charade!

Is it confirmed that it is indeed the voice of Yaradua? In Nigeria anything can happen. Yes we are in serious political problems in Nigeria if only BBC can get to a Nigerian president while Nigeria media could not!
